Terraplane Lane, a powerhouse ensemble that has headlined multiple high-energy shows at Harper Lane Brewery, has been named one of just 22 Massachusetts finalists in the 2026 NPR Tiny Desk Contest. The band’s lead guitarist and co-vocalist, Jason Cardinal, is well-known to Middleborough audiences for his "one-man-band" solo performances at Harper Lane Brewery. In Terraplane Lane, he joins forces with a full six-piece crew to deliver a "juke-joint" energy that has become a staple at the brewery. The band’s entry, an original track titled β€œSpeak Easy,” was selected by WBUR 90.9 FM from a pool of 184 Massachusetts artists. The field, which included everything from R&B and jazz to blues and indie rock, has been narrowed down as part of the search for the region’s top independent talent."β€˜Speak Easy’ is a great original song by Terraplane Lane! They have my vote," said Mike Pasalacqua, owner and brewer at Harper Lane Brewery. "Jason Cardinal always brings an energetic performance, keeping our crowd engaged and wanting more. We can't wait to have him back."Recorded in a single live take in Quincy, β€œSpeak Easy” captures the raw, unfiltered sound of the band. The song follows the narrative of a rebellious couple on a wild rideβ€”robbing the rich and evading the lawβ€”guided by the mantra: "Speak easy, listen well, walk confidently, never tell."The band features a formidable lineup including Jason Cardinal and Ben Sangiolo on vocals, Gregg Marcus (bass), Jeremy Sheehan (drums), and a signature reed section featuring Stu Barer on harmonica and David Stringham on saxophone.Fans can catch Terraplane Lane live at Harper Lane Brewery on June 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. While a panel of judges will select the "Local Tiny Desk Favorite," the public has the chance to determine the Fan Favorite. The winner of the popular vote will be profiled alongside the panel’s choice this June.Music fans can support the group by casting their ballots online at tinyurl.com/FanFavorite2026 Voting remains open until 11.59 p.m. on Sunday, May 3.#middleborough #FanFavorites #localmusic #brewery See MoreSee Less
